SirReal2 remt Sirt2 selectief via een Sirt2-specifiek aminozuurnetwerk, en induceert een tubuline-hyperacetylatie en een significante uitputting van BubR1 in HeLa-cellen.

In vivo remt SirReal2 de Sirt2-activiteit zonder de activiteit van de andere Klasse-I Sirtuins Sirt1 en Sirt3 te beïnvloeden.
