Beschreibung Tetrandrine, ein Bisbenzylisochinolin-Alkaloid aus Stephania tetrandra, ist ein Calcium Channel Blocker.

Tetrandrine hemmt spannungsgesteuerte Ca2+-Ströme mit einer IC50 von 10,1 mM in isolierten Nervenendigungen der Neurohypophyse der Ratte. Diese Verbindung ist ein hochaffiner Blocker des Typ II, Maxi-Ca(2+)-aktivierten K+-Kanals der neurohypophysären Endigungen der Ratte mit einer IC50 von 0,21 mM. Eine andere Studie zeigt, dass es auch Ca(2+)-aktivierte Cl--Ströme (I(Cl,Ca)) mit einer IC50 von 5,2 mM hemmt. Diese Chemikalie hemmt die Proliferation menschlicher leukämischer HL-60-Zellen durch Induktion von Apoptose.

BMMs were seeded in a collage I-coated plate and incubated with RANKL (100 ng/ml) and M-CSF (50 ng/ml) for 5 d. When mature osteoclasts were observed, they were digested by collagenase and seeded on bovine bone slices. The bone slices were treated with or without tetrandrine for an additional 2 d. Then, the cells were stained with rhodamine–phalloidin to observe the F-actin rings, and the areas of F-actin rings were calculated by Image-Pro Plus 6.0 software.
